About the Hackathon:
Ignition Hacks is a student-led hackathon dedicated to empowering the next generation of innovators, problem solvers, coders, and entrepreneurs to pursue their passion for global change.
We are creating more than just a hackathon, we want to use our platform to build an organization aimed at supporting tech education and opportunities for students to help them prepare for a growing technology industry.
This year, we plan to support 200+ participants within a hackathon environment offering several workshops on varying topics and industries in tech, 1-on-1 mentorship opportunities, sponsor booths, company panels and more, all while creating their products and fostering a supportive hub to help them prepare for the careers of the future.
Get Started:
The main hackathon is going to take place online on August 15th and in-person at the Ted Rogers School of Management on August 16th. Hacking is from 3:30 PM August 15th to 3:30 PM August 16th. There will also be a slew of events and activities alongside the main hacking, such as independent online workshops on the latest in tech, offline sponsor workshops and panels, game tournaments, karaoke, and much more! Feel free to take a break and attend anything that catches your interest.
We encourage you to fully go over the hackathon schedule, found here, so that you can plan accordingly and make the most of your time!
Requirements
What to Build
You may build a project on any topic of your interest (provided that it is an acceptable and appropriate topic) for the hackathon. If the theme of your project is deemed inappropriate by the judges, you will be disqualified and your submission will not be considered for any prizes. The project may include hardware, but kindly note that you are strongly encouraged to acquire/bring these yourself, as we may be unable to provide all the required components.
What to Submit
The final submission of the hackathon should be a link to your GitHub repo (set to public), along with a file explaining your project. You are also highly encouraged to provide a short demo video and a few screenshots of your work! The actual judging process will involve you providing a live demo of your project to the judges in your assigned judging room. If you are chosen as a finalist, you will be informed beforehand and must present your project live on stage for the final judging process during the closing ceremony, so please start preparing for the presentation after your submission is complete. The project MUST BE SUBMITTED BEFORE THE DEADLINE. Remember: an inclomplete submission is always better than no submission.
